Summary of Career Accomplishments:
Al Giambone co-founded Martin, Blanck & Associates in 1998 and became President and CEO in 2007. In May 1998, he retired from the US Army as the Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. In this role, he served as the personal and principal advisor to the nation's most senior military healthcare official.  The Assistant Secretary is responsible for the management and oversight of the Military Health System (MHS), the nation's second largest healthcare delivery system. This $40 billion system delivers care to more than 9.4 million beneficiaries through a worldwide network of more than 70 hospitals, over 500 clinics and through the TRICARE triple-option purchased care commercial health program.

Mr. Giambone advised the Assistant Secretary on all healthcare and operational policies and was responsible to the Department, the Administration and Congress for numerous critical health policy issues affecting both peacetime and wartime healthcare programs. He was a member of source selection boards that helped determine TRICARE contract awards. He also managed the policy formulation process within Health Affairs, including all strategic planning activities, and was responsible for developing and coordinating legislative strategy and activities. 

Additional Qualifications:
Mr. Giambone previously served as the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and the Principal Director for Policy and Planning Coordination for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs). He managed the policy formulation process, including all strategic planning and the Department of Defense healthcare reform program (TRICARE).  Mr. Giambone also was responsible for the public affairs program and served as the Department's primary spokesperson on health policy issues to members of Congress and military organizations.  

He has a Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University, a Master of Science from Elmira College and a Master of Health Care Administration from Baylor University.
