Dixie Baker, PhD, listed in Top 10 Influencers in Health Information Sector

Alexandria, VA (January 11, 2013) - Dixie Baker, a Senior Partner at Martin Blanck & Associates, has been listed as one of the  10 most influential  people within health information security this year by the Information Security Media Group (ISMG).

Ron Blanck, Chairman of Martin, Blanck, and former Surgeon General of the Army, applauded Ms. Baker for her accomplishments, noting that, "recognition of Dixie as one of the most influential people in health information security is well-deserved and a clear acknowledgment of her impact on this important field."

ISMG reports Baker "has been influential in crafting federal privacy and security standards and policies for the HITECH Act electronic health records incentive program. She is chair of the Health IT Standards Committee's privacy and security workgroup and a member of the Health IT Policy Committee's privacy and security tiger team. Both groups advise federal regulators. The consultant has been a leader in the field of health information security for decades."

Charlie Abell, Vice-Chair of Martin, Blanck, also noted the importance of improved security for the electronic health record systems being developed by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, stating that, "Dixie’s role in improving security for health information systems will be crucial to safeguarding the health data of American’s military and veterans."

ISMG is a company specialized in covering information security, risk management, privacy and fraud as well as distributing related content in order keep information security professionals up to date. Each year, ISMG reviews the impacts various individuals have had within their field and announces the ten who have played a most critical role in shaping how organizations approach information security and privacy.
